The Rotary Club of SeaTac was chartered on April 9, 1993. It was originally comprised of 26 dedicated individuals, 13 men and 13 women.
Their mission was to improve the quality of life in their community, advance vocational awareness and promote understanding, goodwill and peace
throughout the world.
Today, we are a small, but growing club. Our motto is: "We have a lot of fun but also get things done!". Our members enthusiastically roll up their
sleeves to serve their community and the world. We also endeavor to provide financial assistance to those in need by administering periodic fund-raisers.
Since 1995, we have featured an International Festival, a three day event held during the last weekend in June. We also conduct a President's Bash & Auction
every April and a Poinsettia Sale each November. In addition, over the past nine years, our members have personally donated approximately $50,000
to the Rotary International Foundation, 60% of which has been returned to programs within our district.
Each year, the Rotary Club of SeaTac contributes between $6,000 and $10,000 to the community with priority given to our youth, seniors and the needy.
For example, we sponsor the Tyee High School Interact Club and have created scholarships for students from both Tyee High School and the
Highline School District Occupational Skills Center. Financial support is also provided to our elementary schools for student uniforms, library supplies,
Christmas gifts and Camp Wascowitz. Additionally, our members regularly volunteer to tutor students.
As a member of Rotary District 5030,
our Club is involved with many programs such as: Rotary First Harvest, Rotary Homeless
Youth, Group Study Exchange and Habitat for Humanity. We also sponsor workshops including "Living with Carnivores", among others.
The Rotary Club of SeaTac participates in international projects. We have provided hands-on and financial support for:
clean water in Mexico, a school for the physically and mentally handicapped in Guatemala, housing in Ethiopia, computers in Latvia,
poor students in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and a school for girls in India.
